Enjoying Your Rainy Day Wedding: Pro-tips and More!

Rain can be so romantic! The pitter patter of drops hitting the trees outside can make a ceremony and reception feel cozy and intimate. Owner, Raquel Shutt, has blessed us with some pro-tips from her years of experience, on what to do if darkening clouds threaten to ruin your special day. Heres what we got:

  1. Matching umbrellas/rain boots: If an unfriendly forecast starts to approach head over to your local dollar store or grab your computer and order enough umbrellas for you and your bridal party. These can be used throughout the day and will make for awesome photos!
  2. Professional makeup and hair vendors: Ask your hair and makeup team what they do if it looks like you'll be getting married with some bad weather. Usually they will use different products to ensure your hair sets and your makeup will be smudge proof. Double check to make sure!
  3. Transportation: If possible, try to go with a trolley or shuttle bus for bridal party transportation. These types of rides make it easier to get in and out without getting AS wet than if you were in a car or limo.
  4. Always have a rain plan: Simple. When booking your ceremony and reception venues ask what they do in case of rain. If it involves moving to an inside location, make sure you like the inside location! Moving spaces can completely transform your design. Staying prepared is the best option.

If you follow our tips, we can guarantee a successful day! We've gathered some testimonials from bride and grooms that had to weather some storms to say "I Do" to prove it:

"Having the reception indoors ended up making the evening so cozy and intimate," says the bride. "We danced the night away to the sound of raindrops on the roof." Brides

Also, we couldn’t forget the downpour during our ceremony right after my dad handed me off to Chase. That was definitely a memorable moment and something we laugh about all the time now. June Bug Weddings
